THE EXHALE - A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO INSPIRING YOUR WELL-BEING AS A MUSICIAN
Die Bar ist eröffnet! Violinistin Gwendolyn Masin mixt einen Cocktail, der den Musen würdig ist. Gemischt werden klassische Musik mit jeweils einem ausgesuchten Künstler oder einer ausgesuchten Künstlerin eines anderen Genres. Musikgeschichte wird erlebbar, Grenzen werden spielerisch überschritten, Brücken gebaut und natürlich wird prickelnd musiziert. Das Ergebnis ist ein einmaliger Konzertabend, überraschend und sinnlich zugleich. Hier ein kurz Film der ersten Ausgabe mit Andreas Schaerer.
Die in Havanna geborene, aber mittlerweile fest in der Schweiz verwurzelte Musikerin Yilian Cañizares mischt als Gast der zweiten Ausgabe ihre Klänge zum Cocktail. Chucho Valdes bezeichnet sie als eine der unglaublichsten Talente der neuen Generation von Kubanischen Musikschaffenden. Virtuos, ausdrucksstark, spontan und mit einer unglaublichen Anmut mischt sie gekonnt Jazz mit Klassik und kubanischer Musik, und lässt sich dabei viel Platz für Improvisation.

During a lesson I taught to a very talented but anxious young soloist, I suggested she exhale before she begin the next note, and let her breath and phrasing flow on the release of accumulated external pressure. Inhaling, she placed her bow on the string. With the following exhale, she stroked the bow and let go of a free tone production so beautiful that she smiled through tears.
Exhale - it is the word, nay, the world, that set off my drive to create a haven of contemplation, where we meet to support one another and find the space we need to become the musicians we know we can be.
