“It’s not your fault that the world is the way it is. It will be if it stays that way.”
– Die Ärzte, German punk band
At the GAIA Music Festival we were asked to try to synopsise what it is we have been doing all these years, other than presenting and showcasing exhilarating live concerts with some of the best musicians we can find. We poured over our work and realised that we uphold fundamental values and standards while embracing community and connection.
Promoting a New Set of Core Values in Classical Music
Here are some of the things we do at GAIA:
- We've consistently upheld the importance of everyone's role in classical music.
- We provide a return to a broad array of interests in art.
- We dismantle entrenched caste systems that equate the value of musicians with the costliness of their instrument.
- We dismiss the industry’s infatuation with youth.

This year’s GAIA Music Festival celebrates an abundance of music, the people who make it, the people who write about it, experience it, work all year to present it, and the stories behind it all can be read and listened to here: GAIA Website and Programme.
The "Family" album is released on Naxos this month. It includes performances by violinists Kirill Troussov and Clémence de Forceville, baritone Wolf Matthias Friedrich, and pianist Alexandra Troussova, playing works by Wolfgang, Leopold, and Franz Xaver Mozart, Kateřina Smetanová Kolářová and Bedřich Smetana.
