TROIS is an EP and can be seen as a post-script to the album FLAME. The three short works that make up TROIS were all written at the turn of the 20th century between 1903 and 1918. It is Gwendolyn’s third recording in the last three years and features her playing with her long-standing piano partner, Simon Bucher.
The first work on the album is "Morceau de lecture" by Gabriel Fauré, one of the greatest French composers of the beginning of the 20th century and incidentally, the teacher of Lili Boulanger. The French female composer Lili Boulanger’s "Nocturne" is the second work on the album; this is followed by Ferenc Vécsey's "Valse Triste".
The album was released on 7 December 2018. TROIS is available on Naxos, as well as digitally on most platforms. Music videos were made to accompany each of the pieces and can be viewed here.
